the day of, preparing for my one liner movie role
Now that my hubby and kids are safely out of the house and tucked in to work and school I can relax and get to the work of preparing for my movie role tonight. This is my second movie that I will be acting in and I am still in learning mode. The first one was last summer and I had a total blast. It did help that I only had one line. It is truly amazing how many ways you can actually say a one liner in film.
So, this morning I will be packing up different outfits for the Mom role that I have in the movie titled "Illuminate". This is a student film and so I bring my own wardrobe and accessories. The director gave me a few ideas (Not much) but I am a mom so that helps. On this film , I have a one liner as I sit at a dinner table with my film family. Should be a fun time since I am still in learning mode about all the technical things that happen in just one scene. This scene that I will be shooting tonight could take hours. The set-up alone with the lighting and sound are very time consuming. With all the different decisions that the actors bring to their role the directors job is to fuse them in a way that fits the overall feel of the film. When it finally all mingles together, everyone feels this sort of harmonious groove. And this is what we realize is the reason why we do this creative endeavor.
Oh and yeah, I have been saying my one line every day and sometimes in my sleep. It is truly amazing how when I practice it over and over , there is that one time where I can say it completely different and it changes the dynamic of the role. So, I will be bringing my different takes on my role tonight, but it is so funny because no matter how many different ways that I can say my one liner, the director will ask for something else and I will have to come up with the way he wants it right on the spot. I have learned to just say what comes out of my head and not waste the time overthinking it.
Ok, onward and upward, I have a 4 hour drive ahead of me today to the house where this will be filmed, plenty of time to come up with more ways to say my one liner, Cheers!
